Stone Mountain Park Family Portraits

This is such a classic image of Stone Mountain Park Family Portraits. The colorful trees, sweaters and crisp blue sky says fall portraits. As a family photographer in Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park is one of my favorite family photo locations.

It is also one of the best places to take engagement photos in Atlanta as well as a great place to take prom pictures in Atlanta. The possibilities are endless.

Where to take Photos in Stone Mountain Park

One of the reasons that I love photographing at Stone Mountain Park is because of the endless locations for a photo shoot. I have had countless photo sessions over more than 10 years and never run out of locations. Here are the most popular locations, although I do have a several hidden gems that no one ever goes to.

1. Grist Mill - This scenic mill, located away from the tourist area of the park is still a popular location for portraits and picnics.
2. Walk up Trail - This hiking trail up the mountain is filled with people, but just off to the side, there are wide open spaces where it looks like you're miles from civilization in photographs.
3. Memorial Lawn - This iconic view of Stone Mountain has plenty of photo opportunities at the bottom of the lawn near the lake.
4. Covered Bridge - The old fashioned covered bridge is a great location for portraits.
5. Stone Mountain Summit - The view from the mountaintop lets you see downtown Atlanta, Buckhead, Kennesaw mountain and Dunwoody.
