Why take engagement portraits?
Engagement portraits are great way to have fun and romantic photographs in a more casual than your wedding day. By choosing a meaningful location, wearing your favorite outfit that you know you look good in and doing something you enjoy together, you can make this a memorable experience.
It’s often a couple’s first time being photographed together. Your engagement portraits deserve more time, attention and creativity than a cell phone snap that has 5 minutes of glory on your Facebook timeline.
If you feel like you’re not photogenic, engagement portraits are a great way to get comfortable with your looks and your photographer so you’re not worrying about whether your wedding pictures will be good.
When should we schedule our engagement session?
Typically couples will use engagement portraits for Save the Date cards which are sent 6-12 months before the wedding. If you’re not sending Save the Date cards I recommend scheduling your session in the opposite season of your wedding. For a fall wedding, spring engagement portraits are a nice contrast.
Where is the best Atlanta location for engagement sessions?
The most popular locations are Piedmont Park, Centennial Olympic Park and Stone Mountain Park. Instead of choosing a random park, I recommend choosing a place that is special and meaningful to you. I will help you choose a location that reflects you and your fiancé’s personality. I've done engagement portraits in parks, malls, antique shops, botanical gardens and even the Georgia Aquarium. I like for it to be as if you're being photographed on a date, not just you two standing in different locations, smiling awkwardly at a camera.
What do we do with the engagement portraits?
Most couples incorporate their engagement portraits into their wedding décor. The most popular options are
- Photo Guest book with 20 images and space for your guests to sign
- Framed Signature Board, an 11x14 photo with a mat for your guests to sign
- Custom designed Save the Date cards
After the wedding day, you can proudly display these photos in your home.
We’re having a destination wedding. Can we hire you for just engagement portraits?
Absolutely! I have custom packages for engagement portraits as well. Please contact me for more information.
